Project Heritage
The Vision
Project Heritage stands as a reminder that not every home needs to be completely stripped down and replaced to create something beautiful again. Sometimes the most meaningful transformations come from preserving the character and history that already exist while carefully blending them with new life and functionality.
This project began when the homeowner noticed her kitchen cabinets starting to sag and the flooring beneath her feet feeling weak and unstable. Concerned that something more serious was happening beneath the surface, we came out and performed a full inspection of the home. After crawling underneath the house, we discovered the source of the issue. An old cast iron drain line had slowly failed over time, allowing moisture to build beneath the kitchen for years. What started as a hidden plumbing problem eventually caused significant damage to the structural flooring system below the space.
Once the issue was identified, we walked the homeowner through the next steps and discussed the best path forward to restore both the structure and the feel of the kitchen itself. While the space felt dated, we immediately recognized the value and craftsmanship of the original real wood cabinetry. Rather than recommending a full demolition, we suggested preserving and refurbishing the existing cabinets and countertops because of the quality, character, and history they carried within the home.
The kitchen was carefully disassembled piece by piece so the cabinets and appliances could be protected during construction. From there, the entire damaged flooring system was removed and rebuilt to restore the strength and integrity of the home. New plumbing and water lines were also installed throughout the area as part of the restoration process. Once the structural work was completed, the kitchen began to come back to life with refreshed finishes, brighter lighting, and new flooring that brought warmth and continuity back into the space.
The final result feels timeless, welcoming, and full of character. The kitchen now feels brighter, stronger, and more connected to the rest of the home while still holding onto the original craftsmanship that made the space special in the first place.
Project Heritage reflects something we strongly believe in. Not everything old needs to be replaced to create something beautiful. Sometimes the history within a home is what gives it soul. By blending restoration with thoughtful updates, this project became more than a renovation. It became a continuation of the memories, warmth, and life that already existed within the home.
